🎂 Applying Your Edible Image

For best results, please follow the guidelines below when applying your edible cake sheet.

🧁 Preparing Your Cake

  • Ensure your cake is fully prepared with a smooth, level surface.
  • Apply the edible image before the icing develops a dry crust.
  • Suitable surfaces include buttercream, store-bought frosting, fondant, gum paste, whipped cream (non-dairy recommended), chocolate, fudge, and even ice cream cakes.

Important:

  • For fresh cream cakes, the image may absorb moisture and fade. We recommend placing a thin layer of fondant between the cake and the edible image.
  • Edible images appear best on light-colored icing. Dark icing may alter or dull the image colors. For dark cakes, apply the image onto white fondant first, then place it on the cake.

✂️ Preparing the Image

  • Remove the edible sheet from its airtight packaging.
  • If trimming is required, use sharp scissors or a blade while the sheet is still on the backing.
  • Ensure your hands are clean and completely dry when handling.

❄️ Freezer Method

  • Place the edible sheet (on backing) in a dry freezer for 10–15 seconds.
  • The sheet will firm up and release easily from the backing.
  • Remove and apply immediately before it softens.

⚠️ Avoid moisture—humid freezers may damage the image.

🔥 Oven Method (Recommended)

  • Place the sheet in a warm, dry oven (approx. 50–60°C / 120–140°F) for 1–2 minutes.
  • Do not overheat, as this may damage the backing and image.
  • Remove, let cool briefly, and gently peel from backing.
  • Repeat if necessary until it releases easily.

Note: Sheets release best when slightly dry—not moist.

🍰 Application by Frosting Type
Buttercream

  • Apply when icing is slightly set (light crust formed).
  • Gently smooth from center outward.
  • Add borders if desired for a finished look.

Non-Dairy Whipped Topping

  • Do not add extra moisture before applying.
  • Keep cake refrigerated after application.

Fondant / Sugar Paste

  • Lightly brush water only where the image will be placed.
  • Apply the image and gently smooth.
  • Avoid excess water, as it may leave marks.

⚠️ Troubleshooting
Image Won’t Release

Humidity may cause sticking. Try:

  • Gently rolling the sheet over a table edge
  • Using the freezer method (15–30 seconds)
  • Lightly warming with a hair dryer (keep distance)

Image Too Dry or Brittle

  • Place a slightly damp paper towel inside the bag (not touching the image side)
  • Seal and let sit for several hours or overnight
  • Allow to dry slightly before use

💡 Helpful Tips

  • Apply to a freshly iced cake for best results
  • Avoid touching the image after placement—it will soften and blend within minutes
  • Use white icing for the most vibrant colors
  • Minor cracks can be gently smoothed with your fingers
  • Store unused sheets in a sealed bag in a cool, dry place (do not refrigerate)
